Chinese poems are beautiful, but somehow is very not easy to be translated. What makes Chinese poems interesting, is because somehow it's really old. Some poems were written even back more than 2000 years ago. The poets themselves were greatly vary, from a mere boat-woman (A Song of Yue Girl), poets, scholars, and even emperors (Li Yu, Kangxi, Qianlong, etc). I'm not trying to say that my translation is good. I just try to make it as accurate as possible - I don't care about the rhyme or anything, as somehow how could I maintain the rhyme, the number of words, etc while I'm translating into two different languages? Both of Chinese and English are not my native language, therefore if you are a bilingual Chinese and English, please correct me if I make mistake. Thank you! Here are some of my poems translation: Yu Beauty / 虞美人 by Emperor Suzong / Li Yu A Song For a Beauty 佳人曲 by Li Yannian - Han Dynasty Yue Song by Song Lian - An elegant way to say 'marry a.s.a.p! :p Nalan Xingde's Deep Yearning / 纳兰性德《长相思》 A Song of Yue Girl / 越人歌 Phoenix Hairpin |
